R13 Sustainable Development and Oil in Alberta:
This video is intended to be a "hook" at the beginning of the Social Studies' Globalization unit, in order to encourage students to consider the meaning and impacts of prosperity, how Alberta has obtained prosperity and the many effects the oil industry. An extensive bibliography is provided in the posted document below. Images are shared from the City of Edmonton's archives and beyond.
Residential Schools:
When investigating globalization, human rights emerges as one significant component. This video examines some impacts of Residential Schools on many people by raising rigorous questions and by sharing images from Glenbow Museum Archives and more. The learner outcome, "To what extent should we embrace globalization?" is a major focus.
